I am pleased to announce that we have new participants joining our movement this year! Organizations from countries that have never taken part in the International Day of Action for Rivers will be lending their support and hosting events.

  • In response to a dam built on the Tonekoban River in Iran, the Tonekoban Women Society Against Environmental Pollution (TWSAEP) will organize a meeting and hold a cultural gathering in Tonekoban City to increase public awareness against dams and rivers.
  • In Ghana, activists and students from the University of Ghana will hold an event to create awareness around water issues.
  • In the Dominican Republic, activists will take action at the Ozama River in Santo Domingo, by mobilizing people to clean the river and pushing authorities to take action to protect the river.

We have also heard more details of events in Indonesia, Mozambique, Spain, Portugal and Italy. International Rivers invites you to participate by attending an event in your area or planning one of your own. It's not too late! For more information and assistance, check out our website or email us at dayofaction@internationalrivers.org. And keep us updated on Day of Action for Rivers happenings around the globe!
